You ever see those house-flippin’ shows where the building is still a bit of a shell, desperately in need of renovation? Scissorbox is right about there. The blueprints were drafted, and even the framework is there, but the bricks and mortar are still piled in the alleyway under a bright blue tarp.
What you can expect to find are serial novels written in hypertext format (These particular novels are presented almost like episodes: Smaller books in an ongoing series). Want a simple version of the story? Just read the text naturally. Want a deep glimpse into the side stories, characters, and even visuals associated with the writing? Simply click any of the hypertext links throughout the text. These will take you to any number of entries, including character profiles, background stories, and even artwork (which you can purchase). If you don’t feel like messing with all this high-tech nonsense and just want to curl up with a book the old fashioned way, you can purchase the printed books, which are designed, written, and edited by yours truly.
Oh, and last of all, Scissorbox provides an audio presentation of each chapter in a monthly podcast, all available through Itunes. So even if you’re blind you can enjoy the stories!
Overall Scissorbox has a goal of telling its stories organically, while stretching the rules of how a story can be told. It’s a bold undertaking, and admittedly a bit overwhelming, but I’m more than excited to finally open the books to the wide world. They’ve existed solely in my mind for far too long.
See you in a couple weeks,
Josh
